Providence

Providence Southern California has built a broad range of community benefit programs serving the elderly, the uninsured, our immigrants, school children and those with mental illnesses.

This service to the poor and vulnerable is a responsibility we all embrace. Our board members serve as eyes and ears in the community and take seriously our call to serve. Hillview Mental Health Center

Serving more than 2,000 clients, Hillview Mental Health Center empowers individuals affected by mental illness to flourish and live productive, fulfilling lives. Their staff of psychiatrists, nurses, clinicians, recreational therapists and case managers work collaboratively to provide individually tailored services for theirclients. These services can include medication evaluation and treatment, individual or group therapy, case management, substance abuse treatment and crisis management. Pacoima Family Resource Center

The Pacoima Family Resource Center offers free, culturally focused health education resources and programs designed to promote wellness and healthy living. All L.A. Care members and the public get access to preventive services like free health screenings for blood pressure. Take health education classes on parenting, healthy cooking and managing asthma, diabetes or weight.

At the Pacoima Family Resource Center, you can learn to cook and plan healthy meals, take Zumba and yoga classes and more.

Libraries

All libraries provide free access to computer workstations which are connected to the Library's information network. In addition to providing Internet access, these workstations enable the public to search many electronic resources including the online catalog, subscription databases, word processing, language learning, literacy and a large historic document and photograph collection.

2-1-1 LA County

211 LA is the central source for providing information and referrals for all health and human services in LA County. Our 2-1-1 phone line is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, with trained Community Resource Advisors prepared to offer help with any situation, any time. Our community services go far beyond phone referrals – explore our website to learn more.

3-1-1 City Services

The City of Los Angeles MyLA311 non-emergency service’s mission is to connect people to City services and information, quickly and easily, via a communication channel of their choice.

We provide general City and government-related information to citizens, local businesses, and visitors from various resources including the MyLA311 knowledge base of over 1500 City and government services, City department websites, etc.
We perform Service Request intake on behalf of City Departments.
We connect people to the appropriate City Department when subject matter experts are needed.

Toy Loan Program

The Toy Loan Program is a free service which allows children to borrow toys in the same manner in which they borrow books from the public library.

The Toy Loan Program helps to develop a sense of responsibility in children through the observance of an honor code and merit system that gives praise and recognition when toys are returned on time and undamaged.
The child is rewarded with a new “incentive toy” to keep and take home with them after participation in the program for 5, 10, and 20 weeks. If the borrowed toy is broken or lost, it will take longer to receive his/her "incentive" toy.
Families can join the program when they stop by the Family and Community Center and simply fill out a registration card with name and address. No ID is required.
The hours for this program are every Tuesday from 12:45 pm - 3:00 pm. The program is open to the community.

Uniform Donation

The Uniform Exchange Program is a service that the Vaughn Family & Community Center offers to all who attend the school. Using the uniform exchange is a great way to clothe your child in previously worn uniform attire at no cost. Donations of gently used uniforms are what keep this program running. Here is a brief overview of how the program is set up to function:

Gently used uniforms are turned into the school at the Family and Community Center.
All pieces are inspected, inventoried, and cataloged.
Parents receive Parent Involvement hours for each usable donated piece.
Parents browse the uniform inventory for pieces needed and are available.
A uniform piece can be exchanged for a smaller or larger size at no cost.

Uniforms can be donated or acquired at a walk-in basis in room 1 at our Family & Community Center.
